Coin operated launderette located on the edge of Buckdoo Square. Our experience has been that the front loading machines give as good a wash as any domestic washing machine even though the cycle is very quick but we are told that the cheaper and smaller top loaders are not as good. We have also found that on one machine the door was hard to open and needed a visit to the launderette owner who fortunately could be found by asking at the Lost Room as they live next door. This is a valuable service so do support it if you live in town and have no machine of your own or have a large item or load that will not go in your own machine - the front loaders and the driers are substantially larger than domestic models. It's less effort and more thorough than hand washing. Now that most people have washing machines it may be hard for this business to work but it's there for you if your washing machine breaks down or if you have something like a duvet that will not fit into a domestic washer or drier.
